It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...

Music supervisors start looking for Christmas music in the summer for their holiday season productions.

Whether it's an original or a cover of a Christmas classic, holiday songs are always in demand because every year there are new Christmas themed movies, TV episodes, and specials being made.

We want to help you jump on the bandwagon early with this Song Challenge...

**NB. SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

If you don't have an original song written, consider recording a cover and putting your own twist on it. There are lots of Christmas songs to choose from and if you missed my blog about the benefits of recording a cover song, check it out here.

The deadline to submit your song is June 21st. Send an email with a link to stream or download your MP3 (no attachments please) to info@syncsongwriter.com

And if you want to take advantage of our 25% discount to record with us online through Sundown Sessions Studio, hit us up here.

iTunes Store Is Closing!

We all know it’s hard enough making money with your music. Now one of the last great ways to do that is about to disappear.

It looks like the iTunes Store is going to close.

BUT there is still one remaining avenue to make real money from your music… Watch the video to find out. Afterwards, don't forget to leave a comment below and let us know what you think about all this.

Music Connection

Really cool news! Music Connection Magazine asked me to write an article about the 5 steps to getting your music synced to TV and film. They have been around since 1977 and are a nationally distributed magazine, so this article got a lot of exposure. Just wanted to let you know about it and you can check it out here!

I dropped a lot of free tips and tricks about getting music into TV & film. I am really happy I could be a resource to his listeners and I hope you enjoy it too!

And while you're there, check out Indie Connect (they host the podcast) as they are a great resource for independent artists.

Interview with Music Supervisor Gary Calamar

We recently did a live webinar in our course, The Art of the Song Pitch, with music supervisor extraordinaire, Gary Calamar.

Gary has worked on a ton of shows including House, True Blood, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Weeds, The Man In The High Castle….and new shows like Alex Inc, Here And Now, and the soon to be released, Titans.

Here is a short snippet of the hour-long interview with Gary which included Q&As and live song reviews where our students got to pitch their music to Gary.

Gary has some great stories & insights some of which he shares in this short video clip here:

From Zero To Full-Time Syncs

She had just lost her job.

Her dreams of making music for a living seemed like they were about to end.

She wondered how she would be able to make ends meet.

Then, with a simple change in her life, she suddenly started getting regular sync placements.

Megan's story is an amazing example of what can happen when you take the right steps... because it may turn out better than you expected.
