My particular skill in songwriting in show music or themes adapted for muscal /theatrical productions. I already have examples on my YouTube channel with a great deal more on back catalogue. Does this preclude me from participation?

  7. christian j montalbano

I’m a veteran composer, sound designer, and songwriter who stepped away from music to run a video production business. Here’s a snapshot of my music journey: I launched several recording studios in downtown NYC, engineering and producing for artists like Fred Thomas (James Brown’s bassist) and underground punk and hip-hop bands. A pivotal moment came when mentor Tim Champion introduced me to Eddie Cilletti, who connected me with John Petersen, renowned for his work on Miami Vice and MTV’s original theme. John encouraged me to explore composition, sparking my passion for original music for TV and film.

I spent 10 years as a music producer, jingle writer and film composer/sound designer both at Rave Music, and my own company creating award-winning work for brands like Pringles, Procter & Gamble, and Anheuser-Busch. I scored the anime series Power Stone and contributed to Pokemon, Cubix, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Later, I founded a music production company, scoring The Life Makeover Project with Cheryl Richardson (Oxygen Network) and contributing music to the Xbox platform. I also pursued a DJ career, signing with 411Records.
Driven by a passion for visual storytelling, I took a break from the biz to launch LiftMedia360, a video production agency serving nonprofits, healthcare, and design companies. While leading this business, I scored 95% of my clients’ projects, maintaining a connection to music. Today, I’m rekindling my commitment to composing full-time.

    1. Chris SD

Thanks for sharing your journey, Christian. You sound like you are in a perfect place to take full advantage of the Sync Songwriter Music Supervisor Panel. See you there!

  8. Stacey Mullan

I would like to listen to the music supervisors tomorrow. I have several songs in a music library, just sitting there. I am familiar with the Sync industry, and how it works, but I have no relationships. I’d love to learn how to build these connections.

    1. Chris SD

That sounds great, Stacey! Keep in mind that the event happens on Sunday, January 12th at 10am PST. The link will be sent to you shortly.

  9. ANDREW JUNIOR SASPO BANGURA

    I acknowledge so a very big thanks…
Please make me aware if you would take to retaining a finder’s fee for such a connection to a placement if a song is selected?

    1. Chris SD

Hi Andrew, I do not take a finder’s fee or take any of your money from any song placements you get. See you at the panel!

  13. DAVID JOHNSON

Hi , To Whom it Concern My Birth name is David Johnson and My Artist name is Drivon(Dri-von); I’m writing to inform you that I’m interested in writing Songs for Movies , and TV and began writing Lyrics at the age of 12 . I’m Versatile and write Songs for All Genres from Hip Hop , R&B , Gospel , RAP , Reggae , ECT.

    1. Chris SD

Great to hear, David, and thanks for reaching out. Good to hear about your versatility. I’ll see you there!

  14. Robert Phoenixx Zeas

My name is Robert Zeas. Over the last 10 years, I have self funded investing $125,000 producing film and audio content at Premier locations, studios and mastering facilities.

A celebrity’s Bel-Air mansion, VIP member only Foundation Room Las Vegas, GnR/STP recording studio in
Burbank, Dry Lake Jean Nevada, Hideout Studios Vegas (Kevin & Kane Churko), and Sterling Audio New York (Chief Engineer Ted Jensen)- highlight a few of my collaborators.

I would very much welcome learning how to sync my music. Based on my first independent film release an acoustic version of one of six songs currently available for release earned over 30 million song plays on Amazon Prime Video (iMDB) and Daytime Emmy submission for best original song.

However, my challenge now is to ensure the commercial success of this project; seeking independent film releases are not going to return on investment neither elevate the music to the widest audience possible.

I truly welcome your support to fulfill my lifelong mission of now 10 years. I look forward to attending and learning all that I can through you and your trusted network.

I have six songs and four music videos currently available for release.

    Respectfully and gratefully yours!
    Robert Zeas

    1. Chris SD

Robert, great to hear about all your success. You are certainly in the right place here. The idea is to connect directly with music supervisors and build relationships with them so you can submit music to them over and over again. Come out to the panel and you will see how that works. I would love to help you fulfill your lifelong mission.

  15. Sam Johnson

Hi, I’d be happy to attend! Hope it’s not too far from Austin Tx

    2. Chris SD

It’s online, Aidan. You can show up in your pajamas. 🙂 I’ll be sending out the link shortly. Hopefully see you there.

  16. Adrian Kuipers

I had this deeper inner feeling that I should do something with sync, since my music is very visual because of my filmmaking background, so here I am, looking forward to start working with you. My main question is: Is it better to show unreleased tracks, or already released tracks? And my second question is: Can it be of importance, if the song is already used in another film? All the best, Adrian Kuipers

    1. Chris SD

Hi Adrian, great to hear you’ll be there! I would love to answer you questions, but they are a little more involved. I can absolutely answer them for you at the panel. Short answer though is it’s better to have songs released only because when a sync placement happens you want people to be able to find you immediately when they see the show, movie or ad. That is how you can blow up your fanbase.

  17. Eric Bush

We would love to work with a Music Supervisor who is available to with bushmurphy.com
    Bush Murphy Music

    1. Chris SD

Sounds good, just show up to the panel, Eric. See you there!

  18. Heather Paredez

I have a BA in liberal studies and music and have composed three singles, four albums and 18 music videos that I have produced. I hope that you will have the time to take a look at my YouTube station. I would love to have my music out there but am clueless on how to market my music. I don’t have the funds to take my music to the next level. I hope and pray that this event will help me get the next level. My music is unique and people of all ages like my music and videos. I appreciate your time to see what my music has to offer.

    Thank you,
    Heather Paredez

    1. Chris SD

Thanks for sharing, Heather. Great to hear about your studies and music you’ve recorded. If you feel clueless about how to go about getting your music out there, you will discover everything you need to know at the panel. See you there!

  19. Toiné Houston

Looking forward to hearing more about your vision!

    Best,
    Toiné Houston

    1. Chris SD

Excellent! You’ll learn that and a lot more.

  26. Yousuf Saigal

Hey Chris! Yousuf here, thank you so much for sending me this email, for someone like me, it’s great to have people like you to steer me in the right direction. I am planning on joining, just need to know what time this virtual event will take place, as for I am living in Australia, and of course the other and probably most important question I have is, after listening to these sync supervisors and, knowing their needs in terms of music, how would we go about sending them our music? Super excited to come join, but yea, just need to know what time, cos yea, there’s obviously a time difference 😃

    1. Chris SD

Hi Yousuf, great to hear from you from the down under. The panel is on Sunday, January 12th at 10am PST. Hopefully you can make it. If not because of the time, just reach out to us on our website at Sync Songwriter.

  27. Al Carey

Hi Chris, my name is Al Carey and thank you for this awesome opportunity. I am a songwriter/lyricist and I work Monday-Friday so I will miss this event. How can l send music to you to listen to, for future music project opportunities. My music is copyrighted and radio friendly, and I also write jingles.
    Thank you

    Al Carey

  28. Rob O.

    Love this idea Chris.

    1. Chris SD

  29. Elisa Birkett

Hi Chris, thanks for doing this. What kind of link will you need for the song or songs ? I’m not on disco (at the moment) or SoundCloud but I can create a private streaming link on my website – would that do it?

    1. Chris SD

Hi Elisa, we won’t be able to listen to music at the panel, but show you how you can get it into the music supervisors’ hands. See you there!

    1. Chris SD

Thanks John, but I unfortunately can’t listen to all the music that gets sent to me. Hopefully you’ll be at the panel where we can figure out how to work together.

  32. Cromeone aka Jason parisian

I been creating and making music since 2005 its been a long time I wanted to give up many nights however I will never stop creating music and I’m still here with that being said I have never made any type of real revenue I really need to figure this out as I do have children an they look at me like I Don’t work due to the fact they all waysseen me working but never see me getting paid or benefiting from my work smh

    1. Chris SD

Sorry to hear that. I love your passion for your music and you can have that while still working to bring money into the house. I wouldn’t rule out doing something to earn a regular income and then put your energy into your music at other times.

Come out to the panel to see if it’s a good fit for you and hopefully it will give you even greater perspective on your music career.

  33. Dennis Alan Eschrich

Hi. I have music. Tell me more. Thanks.

  36. Bob Paciorek

    Happy New Year!
Sure I love music, writing and singing. It would be wonderful if I could reach people in a positive way.
That’s the reason I do it anyway. To be recognized would be wonderful.

    1. Chris SD

Happy New Year to you too! Sounds great and I’ll see you there.

  37. Jack Henderson

I’d like to know more about this. Not sure how practical it is as I’m in Scotland, but I’d like to listen in anyway.

    1. Chris SD

I help songwriters from all over the world get sync placements in TV & film. Just show up to the panel and you will see how you can connect with the right people in TV & film.

  38. Jason Harris

Sync is going to be one of my main pillars for the upcoming year and beyond. I’m currently finishing up a debut album release for the coming year. I’m also going to begin work on some production music to pitch to sync agencies. But it is better to go straight to the music supervisor if you can find some that will deal directly with one-stop independent artists.

    1. Chris SD

Absolutely! See you at the panel and thanks for sharing.

  39. Izzie G

I’m looking forward to it. I’m hungry. I’d love to move my career forward.

    1. Chris SD

      Great to hear!

      👍

  43. Scott R Wilcox

Chris, I’m a fulltime professional musician. I have been writing most of my life and have over 300 songs. I spent 17 years in advertising creating jingles for national and regional clients. I have been hired to create custom songs for years and have performed on Oprah, a Super Bowl commercial and won the Bob Dylan Songwriting Award twice. I’d love to learn more.

    1. Chris SD

Congrats, Scott! That is quite a pedigree. You’re in the right place if you want to throw gas on the fire and get your music out there in an even bigger way. See you at the panel.

  44. Edward Daniels

    Would love to attend.

    1. Chris SD

      👍

  45. Michael Rien

Thanks for the free invite Chris! 🙂

Are these Music Supervisors looking for instrumental tracks that sound like scores for TV and Film?

P.S. I just scored a film that was presented in the International Fantasia Film Festival. Then scored another which are in other festivals.

    1. Chris SD

Yes, they use instrumental tracks all the time but are more interested in ones that have a song structure than soundscapes. For composer type instrumentals, they typically hire composers. Either way, you will still learn a ton from the panel about how you can fit into their world. Congrats on your composer credits!

  46. Latti Patterson

Awesome! I can’t wait to gain more insight and knowledge during your upcoming event!
I do have one question, do I need to have my sync songs Copyrighted with the library of congress before I even consider submitting for sync??

    1. Chris SD

Great to hear, Latti! Yes, you should always register your songs before submitting for opportunities. You won’t be submitting songs at the panel, so no worries there, you will be finding out how to connect with the music supervisors directly.

  47. Tim Pepper

Thanks for the email. I would love to take part in the sessions.

    1. Chris SD

      Great! See you there, Tim.

  48. James Netterwald

Sure, I’m interested in a sync opportunity.

    1. Chris SD

      Cool!

  49. John Watt

I’m always working on something new but I have an entire catalog of one stop vintage (1990-2010) that is of broadcast quality. I realize current song structure and current needs may differ, but I’d like to see some of the older material placed

    1. Chris SD

Older material gets placed all the time! See you there.

  50. Gil

    sounds great

    1. Chris SD

      👍

  51. Yeshe Bekele

This sounds really exciting, I’m familiar of sync licensing but I would love to know more.
I’m particularly interested in writing solo piano scores for TV and film?

    1. Chris SD

Beautiful, see you at the panel!

  52. Brenda M Lane

Interested in learning more. Thank you for opportunities.

    1. Chris SD

You got it, Brenda. See you there!

  53. Vic Ciric

As I have a nice little catalog of original music ( On DISCO ) , I am now ready to learn how to successfully network , reach out to people who could use my music and most of all build relationships . Thank You Chris .

    1. Chris SD

Excellent, you are on the right track and will discover all of that at the panel. See you there!

  54. Anouschka Pearlman

    Hi Chris,

I have been writing and producing music for 25 years and never made any income. I tried to approach music supervisors and lawyers because I knew sync was where one could actually make income and get heard by a larger audience. but I had no success. I do not think anyone who could actually help ever listened.
It feels like the music industry in general is very protectionist and ruled by small elites who do not want to share opportunities. This sounds extremely generous of you Thank you so much .

What a great way to start 2025!
    Anouschka

    1. Chris SD

Hi Anouschka, yes, it is notoriously difficult to contact music supervisors cold like that. Know that it is not ruled by elites at all. It just comes down to who you know. I will show you how you can connect directly with the music supervisors at the panel. See you there!

  55. Lennart Jönsson

I’m curious to enter the panel. I have a lot of questions, specially how to find “targets”, i.e. people seaching synch music……………

    1. Chris SD

You will learn that at the panel straight from the people you are trying to target.

  56. Tony

    Thank You.

    Looking Forward To It.

    😎 🎶 ☮️

    1. Chris SD

      👍

  57. Carmine Courtney

Carmine Courtney. I have several songs I’d love to share and hear what you think and thank you for the invitation.

    1. Chris SD

You got it, Carmine. I can’t listen to them here, but come out to the panel and we can see if we can work together.

  58. Michael Brandmeier

    Christ,

I’ve had hundreds of songs and tracks in film and tv. A lot of it was placed on my own, a lot of it was placed through a library. I don’t have time time to do so on my own anymore.

I also have twins who are pretty great-:) SUCH placeable material.

    Thanks for reading!
    Peace,
    Michael

    1. Chris SD

I am sure you have discovered that getting songs placed through libraries is much harder now than it used to be. There are no millions of tracks in many libraries so it is a lot like playing the lottery. I am guessing the way you placed them on your own was because of the relationships you had in the industry. That is exactly what the panel is all about. How to connect directly with the right people in TV & film. Hopefully see you there!

  59. Teresa Silverlight

I am looking forward to this. Do music supervisors prefer a direct contact or do they prefer someone such as yourself to submit material? Thank u

    1. Chris SD

They don’t care whether you submit or a rep submits, but you will care! If you have a rep you are competing against all the other tracks they have on their roster, typically in the thousands or millions of tracks. It is like playing a lottery. When you develop the relationships yourself with the supervisors, you own it all and keep getting to submit music to them. It’s all about who you know.

You will discover how all that works at the panel. Hopefully see you there.

  60. Anna

    Hi,
Connecting only online can be challenging but with distance it can be the only option. Looking forward to learning more. Thank you. Best.
    Anna

    1. Chris SD

    Hi,
I have a newly finished album with a mix of different genres I think would be great for sync. I’ve already landed a couple of placements and looking to connect with more supervisors. I work a 9-5 job in NYC, so hoping this event will be available during after hours. Thanks for the invite!

    1. Chris SD

Let’s increase those placements as best we can! See you at the panel.

  71. Anthony SKeryanc

Do music supervisors only take songs that are ready as is; in my case, done with a jazz trio and local singer, or if they feel the song is what they want but want to redo it; will they take it. I don’t use computer programs to simulate an orchestra; consequently, I paid professionals to record my songs. If music supervisors don’t bother with them as is, it’s very expensive to redo them. Do they ever take the song and have it redone for the ad, film etc?

    1. Chris SD

Once you have relationships with them, sometimes you can work on music for them depending on what they are looking for.

  72. Will Wixon

    Thank you!

    1. Chris SD

Hey Chris, thanks for the invite! I appreciate your work! I just recently finished compiling 17 electronic tracks that I have made over the last few years. I feel like from a lot of feedback from others that a lot of this music would go well for certain action type moments in shows/movies/video games. I learned a decent bit from you at the beginning of last year and would love to learn more! Thanks again!

    1. Chris SD

Love hearing that, Derick! You are very welcome and looking forward to seeing you there.

  87. Bob Ackerman

    Hello Chris, I’m interested!

  90. Jenae Adams

Hi my name is Jenae Adams, I’m rapper, songwriter, and sound designer from Houston, TX. I would like to know in the situation where a music supervisor gives you their email, what the best approach to sending music? Is it better to send a variety of music that is true to your sound, or is it better to send music that sounds similar to prior TV and film they have worked on?

    1. Chris SD

That is a bit too much to go into here, Jenae, but come out to the Sync Songwriter Music Supervisor Panel and we’ll be covering all of that. Hope to see you there!

  104. Jeff Lake

    Hi Chris.
Yes, I’m planning to attend the panel on Sunday, Jan 12. 1pm ET, yes?
Assuming that a songwriter has a particular style of song that he/she thinks might be a good fit for what a music supervisor is looking for, how many songs would be an appropriate number of songs to submit per opportunity?

  105. Elgin Newsome

    I m interested

  106. Scott Gordon-Macey

    Chris,

Love to see how this VT songwriter can get some of my sings on synch. Met w=you at the American Songwriter’s forum online.-Scott

  107. Darren Lee-Ross

Hi Chris – would love to attend the event. Your video makes perfect sense 🙂

I’ve had a few minor successes with my music. Last year one of my tracks was placed in an Australian feature film, Andrew Walsh’s, ‘How Deep is the Ocean’. More recently, I’ve written several soundtracks for David King’s ‘Old and Bold Free-diving Adventures’.

  108. Ed Schaefer

    Yah Mo B There
Ha ha! Jokes aside. Yes, I’m interested; however, as I am in Taiwan, I need to make doubly sure about the time. So, I can plan to stay up later or get up earlier, etc.
    Anyway, looking forward to it.

  109. Jeffrey Swisstack

Are the supervisors looking for songs that have lyrics, the length of the song, instrumentals with out the vocals, etc….

  110. Mick Davidson

    Hello Chris,
Just watched your video and agree with what you say – the time is now no matter how far from perfect me an my songs are. 🙂 Thanks for that reminder! Please sign me up for this event.
    Cheers, Mick.

    1. Mick Davidson

      Chris, a question from me:
As someone totally new to the synch supervisor path, what’s the minimum I need to have set up to be able to start getting my work on front of people?
Bearing in mind that I work full time, there are only so many hours in the day that I can spend setting up and managing websites etc at the moment.

Also, it took me a while to notice that you did the video from your yacht – love it! 🙂
      Cheers, Mick.

  111. Tina Nelms

  121. Timothy Blaylock Jr

  124. Matt And Nick Smith

    Hi Chris,
Looking forward to virtually meeting you and your colleagues and learning all that we can .
One question I have is. As edm producers , we often use vocals from sound and Vocal packs that we purchase or pay for via an annual subscription What would the music supervisors require for copyright paper work for this , if any ?
    Thank you ,
    Matt Smith

    1. Chris SD

Typically if the samples have a license to use them, you are good to go, but this is actually a great question to ask on the panel!

  125. Benjamin Thomas

    Hello from Toronto.
I’ve been to the panel before looking forward to the next one !!

    1. Chris SD

Sounds very interesting. I would like to attend, schedule permitting.

    1. Chris SD

Hope to see you there, Bruce.

  129. Anthony

This sounds a great idea. What places to supervisors go to on a regular basis to find music?

    1. Chris SD

They rely on their go-to people. It’s all about who you know and you will discover how to be one of those people at the panel.

  130. Spike P

Happy New Year Everyone. As a songwriter who us always oushing music I am interested in joining this group. Please send a link

I wonder if supervisors would be interested in the option of changing something in my song and sending the new version

    1. Chris SD

Yes, sometimes they are when you have a good relationship with them. We’ll cover that at the panel, see you there!

  132. Rachel

I’m wanting to find out more and perhaps my music may be of use in the music supervisors’ projects.

    Many thanks
    Rachel

    1. Chris SD

      Great! See you there, Rachel.

  133. Matthew kemp

I have tried other programs and still have yet to find success. Please help me land my first major placement? Please?

I would love that, Matthew. Your first step is to come to the Sync Songwriter Music Supervisor Panel. See you there!

  134. Luke Roberts

    Can’t wait for this!!!

  135. Ingvi

I’ve got all kinds of music, instrumental and vocal. Much of my music is with music libraries and publishers, and of course on streaming music sites, but earnings are rather meagre. So I’m interested in connecting with music supervisors.

  136. Steve Hardwick

    Hi Chris,
Looking forward to exploring sync licensing with my music. Thank you for the opportunity to join the panel discussion. Please send the link.
    Best regards,
    Steve

  137. David Berlin

I am very excited for this event and I am sure it will be invaluable. Please save me a spot.

  138. Lahary Pittman

Yeah .. those were heart felt remarks that I could see separated you from “the sellers”.. those those you-tube type guys that have an arsenal of ‘buy me’ stuff that sounds too good to be true because in fact it’s not true. But your presentation was a legitimate, rational perspective that offers believability without trying to “up-sell” your subscribers.

I will be there.. I’m a composer/lyricist/indie filmmaker and I write both my own songs alone + I’m half of a New York City songwriting team. I totally look forward to the 5 music supervisors whom I would perceive are as righteous as you are. Keep up the good work for the right reasons Chris!

  139. Jon Rothstein

    Hey Chris –

Got my link and looking forward to the panel tomorrow. A bunch of questions which I’m sure will be answered by your Music Sup friends, but I figured I’d offer them up regardless 🙂

    1. How do we stay in touch with you after this panel is done?
    2. In communicating with you, what makes a songwriter/artist stand out in a positive way?
    3. What are some things you wish songwriters/artists would do differently in communicating with you?
    4. When responding to a song brief, is it best to turn in your song quickly even if it’s not quite ready production-wise, or is it better to have it broadcast ready before submitting?
    5. Is there one particular genre or type or mood of song you find you’re always looking for and you wish more songwriters/artists would be supplying you with?
    6. What is your average turnaround from the time you send out a song brief to placing a song in a production?
    7. How often are you looking for new writers/artists you don’t already have a relationship with?
    8. Is there any type of music that songwriters/artists send you too much of?
    9. Do you welcome career updates — as it pertains to songwriter/artist successes and synchs?
    10. If we start working with you, do you immediately include us in all your song briefs, or just the ones you’ve tailored specifically to a handful of songwriters/artists for that type of music?
    11. How many submissions do you get per song brief and how do you start whittling down the possibilities?
    12. How much of a song do you listen to in considering a song submission? Do we have to instantly grab your ear or will you play through at least a verse and chorus?
