Here there Chris, my job is a workout and helps keep me in shape, jumping on roofs and ladders to change HVAC filters. But I also do a simple set of exercises called the 5 Tibetans, they really help strengthen your joints and prevent a lot of aches and pains.

Have a great week! – Jeff

  2. Kelly David Belanger says:

The most important result of excercise and health is that it fuels creativity in your music and music business.

  3. Phil Klein says:

Does high level pickleball 3x per week count:)

You’re preaching to the choir here Chris.

Couldn’t agree more. Not only is hard exercise one of the most important things we can do for ourselves but it’s the best anti-depressant in the world as far as I know.

Thanks for posting this. So important.

    Cheers,
    Phil

Excellent. As one of the “senior” members of your program, I’m here to tell you, it is essential to pay attention to your health. Exercise and keep your health care provider appointments. You can bet that I do.

  5. Louise Dimiceli-Mitran says:

Yes, yes, yes! If I don’t do my 100 jumping jacks and pilates routine in the mornings I’m just not as effective. Then a few miles of walking after that. Glad you made this post – I’m a believer!

  6. Dennis says:

    Hi Chris

As always a big thank you to you and team for all you do.
Interesting subject because I’ve actually written some of my songs while running or in the gym. A dash over to my iPhone to quickly jot down a few lines or something that someone said in a conversation. Because I know I’m not going to remember. Even bits and pieces from a year ago suddenly fit somewhere somehow.

    Be safe and thank you

  7. Jenn Cleary says:

HI Chris, I absolutely agree. Exercise is key to good health and invigorating the creative process!

  8. Wade Wyler says:

Thank you for sending this and very happy having you stay in touch!

  9. Belen / La Miralles says:

Started moving around the city with my bicycle again and IT FEELS SO GOOD! It’s the kind of energy that gives you an extra push to do all those thins outside your comfort zone in your life and in your music. Love the landscape Chris, thanks for sharing.

  10. Michelle Bond says:

    Hey Chris,

Nice to see you! yeah! I get it ! Exercise…. I wish I was addicted to it but am not. But I do move around quite a bit between my landscaping job and having to walk my dog. One thing for sure… the songs come to me when I’m outdoors … the main ideas do. Ut must be the oxygen in my lungs and brain that do that. Cheers!

  11. Paul Machowsky says:

    Hey Chris,

Not a weird blog at all! So many times we rush through life forgetting about the really important things that are essential for our growth and development. Exercise is one of those things! So easy to ignore but so important! I just bought an electric bike! Traded in my Harley for something that can get my heart rate up! To be honest, a Harley can do that also but it won’t do anything for those free radicals we need to expel!

  12. Ashana Lobody says:

Love this, Chris :-)) Yes, I am a super fan of exercise. It’s changed over the years. I love to walk every day — at least 2-4 miles, and workout with resistance & strength training 3x a week and focused stretching daily. Walking is like a meditation for me. I receive so many ideas and creative inspiration, as well as being a great practice for solving problems and facing challenges. We’re human beings and we need to move.

  13. Leah Gannon says:

I like to do a rake of squats when I’m waiting for the kettle to boil, and in general throughout the week. Planks, wall sits and walks are in the mix. Nice spot Chris. Looks like where I do my walks. 🌳🍃

  14. Nicolai Herrmann says:

So true! For me, it is 50 rounds swimming and 4 rounds of sauna. Then right away singing in our choir or for myself – best of days.
    <3 🙂

  15. Dennis Long says:

I exercise regularly, but I worked with a man who believed we have a specific number of heartbeats, and exercising only hastened our death. Never heard that theory before…

  16. Ron Shaffer says:

Thanks Chris. This is very motivational. I need to get back to exercising more often.

  17. Eric Muniz says:

I NEED PEOPLE AROUND ME, the contact and exchanged of ideas make me write music. Also movies inspire me to write. and definely, exercise can help to a lot of music. and No Chris, I don’t exercises. I did bodybuilding for 20 years though… anyway, thank you for your posting, nice view. eric

  18. Joe Bickerton says:

    Couldn’t agree more Chris!!

  19. ROBERT HUNT says:

I’m 72 and try to work out 3 times a week. If I’m in town, it’s Gold’s Gym. Goals are important as well. Mine at this age is to be able to bench my body weight of 185. When I was 60 I benched 320. So there’s been a decline in strength but I am still fit. When I’m at the beach I do 100-150 pushups in 5 sets, 140 sit ups and 50 squats. This increases heart rate, blood flow and teaches you to push yourself in everything including your creativity. Sometimes that songs comes on a walk or witnessing an event. Sometimes it finally starts when you put those first words buzzing around in your head down on paper. I loved the creativity and processes I learned in SSW.

  20. Grace Munoz says:

Great reminder and message, Chris. I’ve been an athlete my entire life , but work ( hard physical labor) became my survival method. Music never paid the bills. I still exercise nearly an hour each morning before work, and of course adjust that on gig days. We love those free radical breakdown strategies…thanks for encouraging others to keep up the physical beat!

  21. Daniel Scannell says:

Certainly agree with thee Chris about how a simple habit like exercising can make a big difference in how we feel ,function and with mental clarity. Yeah I am having to deal with some health issues and exercise is an important part n my recovery.
    Thanks for sharing Brother !

  23. Ann-Marie Christopher says:

Yes, I am professionally a personal trainer and do martial arts.

  24. Don Wall says:

You are so right Chris. Thanks for the encouragement. I ran most of my life, lifted moderate weights, played basketball and football, baseball and softball. These days I’m not doing as much as I need to. Walking is our primary exercise. My wife still does workouts every day. I’m not as motivated, but I had to get fitted for a new suit the other day because my album Love, Texas has been nominated for a Josey Award, album of the year Americana Country. My jacket is a 44S. The pants will be 38/29. I’m not only wider, but I’m shorter. 5’8” is now 5’7” and shrinking. It’d be good to get back to a 42 jacket, 36” waist. I’m in good health but my BMI indicates I can do better.

  25. Jim Hewitt says:

My knees no longer want me to run, but I walk a mile or more almost every day walking my dogs.

  26. John A Winters says:

I totally agree Chris. A workout followed by a good breakfast and a warm shower makes all the difference in my energy levels, sense of clarity and endurance.

  27. Brian Butler says:

    Thanks, Chris. You’re a good man. 🙂

  28. Doug Steigerwald says:

That’s such a great observation Chris! If I miss more than a couple of days of walking and working out I feel my motivation to be creative drop. Thanks for putting the important things in perspective!

    Cheers!
    Doug

  29. Ellen Woloshin says:

    Hi Chris:
Extremely important stuff. I’ve been exercising most of my adult life and what’s interesting is that I tend to come up with writing ideas and/or lyrics, music when I’m walking on the treadmill. Also-good to know about the free radical eradicators!
    Cheers,
    Ellen
