How Greg got his song in a top show (You Can Too)

December 17, 2024

You live and breathe your music, but getting it out there is harder than ever. Why?

Because everyone has an album out – which means between 100 and 200 million tracks worldwide.

You know licensing to TV & film is an incredible way to break through it all, but the middlemen—like sync agents and music libraries—control the access.

The truth is: you can bypass them.

I worked with Greg, an indie artist just like you, and he got his song placed in the show, “Roswell, New Mexico”. No middlemen. No gatekeepers. Just success.

In this quick video, he’ll tell you how it happened—and how you can do it too.

You don’t need a middleman to get your music noticed. You need the right relationships. That’s where I come in.

Hi Chris…. I’ve been following you for some time now… and I’ve had little success for some time….I would love to learn more from you….however, I can’t justify a heavy dollar amount as I am retired on a fixed income….With that said, I believe I have viable material… Is there a path forward for me.. Thank you for your time… Marvin

Hi Marvin, there is always a path forward no matter what. My recommendation would be to come out the “Sync Songwriter Music Supervisor Panel” on January 12th. That will open up that path for you like no other.

Another cool video Chris. Great to see these life changing stories, and i think it IS life changing for some people. Congrats to Greg for his awesome placement.

  4. Thanks Chris, for your professional and warm hearted advice on sync-licensing!
I am more an orchestral music composer. This year, I have a piece of mine “Fantasy for Violin and Piano with orchestra” performed in Carnegie Weill Hall with The New York Chamber Players Orchestra in April.

My other piece “Agitato” was recorded by Orchestra Manhattan at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York last month. It’ll be published at a later time by record company.

All the best and Warm Holiday Greetings!

Hi Gong, thank you so much for sending your music along and it’s so great to hear about your accomplishments. I unfortunately don’t have time to review music outside the musicians I work with. It sounds like you are well on the way though! That said, feel free to attend my free “Sync Songwriter Music Supervisor Panel” in early January to discover some top music supervisors who put music like yours into TV & film.

I enjoyed the reference to the chemistry class and that’s because I’m a chemistry teacher. NOT why I’m replying to your grounding and inspirational message however Chris 🤣
I have no idea how or if my music could make it into the Sync songwriting sphere but it probably stands the same potential as other avenues.

I write songs which hopefully inspire children to learn science and protect and love nature. My biggest drawback in 2024 (as in 2023) is meeting anyone, let along five people with whom I could progress my music. My songs are for children in the age range 6-12 yrs, not toddlers or pre-schoolers. That massively limits my market, but, I keep thinking that this very fact should put me in a place to be noticed. Once again though, it comes back to those 5 people!
    Come out, wherever you are!
I loved your concise and helpful video.

    Thank you,
    John

Thanks for sharing, John! There is a place for every kind of music in TV & film. Even children’s music. Come out to my free “Sync Songwriter Music Supervisor Panel” and discover how.
