Hi Chris, my music isn’t ready for prime time, but your tips are valuable to give me a target to head for. This tip of a playlist is so simple… but I hadn’t thought of it. Stay in touch, hope to have something appropriate soon! Thank you for your encouragement and help!

Hi George, yes feel free to hop over the my online studio website and submit your song there. Just go to Sundown Sessions Studio and submit it there and we can get back to you about whether you are ready to record or maybe the song needs a little more work first.

    Hi Chris:

Thanks for sending this. I have to admit, at first I thought this would be another pitch for something we need to pay for but was glad it was not. I think you explain things well and very clearly. I’ve aready gotten started on my sync journey; however, the songs that I have been hearing are faling into a trendy pattern. I spent 10 years singing and writing jingles before I moved onto a performing songwriter since recording three albums. Based on my jingle experience I have a keen sense of what’s required to sell a product which does dovetail with sync especially on the ad space. My artist songs are more timeless and so far I don’t see a path for them but I don’t believe it’s just who I’ve crossed paths with so far. I do have a number of wonderful covers as well and I appreciate you including them in what music supervisors might be interested in. I know many of these sync folks discourage them probably because they don’t wish to deal with the clearance but the rational for using independents is a good one. I also like your explanation of the downside of signing with reps which I regard as just more gatekeepers unless as you said “your on the front burner.” Sorry for the lengthy commentary but I am seriously navigating all this. Will sign up for you Jan.12 panel.
    Cheers!

Thanks for sharing, Ellen. I think your jingle experience is great for songwriting in general and it’s important to remember that music supervisors are only after authentic sounding music. There is a place for every genre of music, it’s just a question of finding a home for it, so don’t think you have to write for sync.

Looking forward to seeing you at the panel!

    Good Saturday Morning, Chris,
I’ve have had a heart breaking month, my 77 your old sister graduated to her heavenly home. I took a week prior to her departure and visited with her, her children and other family members.
Laying the ground work, I had 773 emails, mostly political but I believe your 5 steps slipped through crack. I have not been able to review it. It would be terrific if you would email me another set. Thank you so very much.
